Elon Musk Is Now the World’s Richest Person – HYPEBEAST

Elon Musk has become the world’s richest person. Surpassing Jeff Bezos, the Tesla and SpaceX founder’s current net worth is valued at $188.5 billion USD. That’s about $1.5 billion USD more than Bezos’ current estimated wealth.

Musk took the top spot as the world’s wealthiest person when Tesla’s stock share price went up 4.8 percent. This is the first time an individual surpassed Bezos’ wealth title that’s been held since October 2017. The two have also been direct competitors: Musk, with SpaceX; and Bezos, Blue Origin LLC. Musk experienced significant financial success in 2020 when Tesla became the most profitable automaker in the world as stock prices went up 743 percent. While Bezos also saw phenomenal success in Amazon’s profits last year, due to a surge in online shopping caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, he also lost a lot of wealth — his divorce from his wife MacKenzie Scott, which stripped him of about a quarter of his stake in Amazon, and a handful of donations, like when he gave away $680 million USD in efforts to help fight the pandemic. Moreover, Musk is showing no signs of slowing down, with Tesla’s steady output of innovative vehicles and SpaceX continuing to complete historic space missions.

In case you missed it, Amazon will be pledging $2 Billion USD to help build 20,000 affordable homes.
