Ames-based Solar FX relocates to Boone

Solar FX first offered its services to residential clients then broadened its reach to commercial, agricultural and industrial sites.

Solar FX Corporation, founded in Ames in 2008, is relocating its offices and warehouse to the former Dodi Plaza at 1316 S. Marshall St. in Boone.

It is a turnkey company in the solar industry, founded by Gary Lass.

“I am eager for my son and daughter to take the reins of the company and build upon the strong foundation that has been created. I will still be engaged with the company, but the overall management and operation of the company will be placed upon Jeremy and Charise, which is what I’ve worked for,” Lass said in a news release.

His children bought the company in March 2021. Jeremy Lass will serve as Chief Executive Officer and Charise Bailey will be Chief Financial Officer.

“We’re really excited to be in Boone. (The site) meets and exceeds our needs, so we have room to grow,” Bailey said.

The new location in Boone allows for triple the office space and a much bigger warehouse. Bailey noted that the Ames location’s warehouse is approximately 6,000 square feet, while the Boone space will be 36,000 square feet.

Solar FX first offered its services to residential clients then broadened its reach to commercial, agricultural and industrial sites.

“Anytime Fitness is our renter currently and we’re trying to find renters for our south end,” she said of the new space in Boone.

Renovations are underway with the expected move in date to be within the next few months, with an open house still to come.
