U.S. Capitol Police said Tuesday they closed roads around the Supreme Court as they investigate a suspicious vehicle parked in front of the building.

People should stay away from the area, police said in tweets.

The heavy police presence, which includes dozens of officers and multiple police dogs, came on the second of the Supreme Court’s new term. Justices were present in the courtroom for in-person arguments for the first time since the start of the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020.

Oral arguments began on schedule at 10 a.m. ET.
