Trump left off Forbes 400 list for first time in 25 years

Former President Trump has fallen off the Forbes 400 list of America’s richest people for the first time in 25 years, Forbes reports.

Driving the news: Trump, worth an estimated $2.5 billion, was $400 million short of the cutoff to make this year’s list.

  • Trump is just as wealthy as he was one year ago, when he came in at number 339 on the list, but he is down $600 million since the start of the pandemic as big-city properties have languished, per Forbes.

The big picture: Trump ranked in the top half of the Forbes 400 list from 1997 to 2016, but his positioning started to drop after he took office in 2017.

  • Amazon founder Jeff Bezos topped the list for the fourth year in a row, followed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, per Forbes.
