MARKET LIVE: Sensex hits record high led by auto, banks; Nifty near


LIVE market update: The Nifty50 hit record high levels of 18,017 on Monday, rising above the 18,000-mark for the first time. Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex too hit a fresh high level of 60,442. The 30-pack index rose over 300 points to 60,356.

Shares of index heavyweight Reliance Industries were off the day’s high, but were still up around 1 per cent. Over the weekend, Reliance Industries announced two major acquistions in the renewable energy space. Going forward, the positive bias is expected to see stock venturing towards uncharted territory of Rs 3,000 levels with aggressive sentiment. READ ABOUT IT HERE

has made a quiet debut on the bourses as shares of the company listed at par with its issue price of Rs 712 on the BSE on Monday. Post listing, the stock touched a low of Rs 706.55 on the BSE and Rs 705 on the NSE, and a high of Rs 721 on both the exchanges. READ HERE

That said, among sectoral indices, barring Nifty IT (down 3 per cent) all indices were in the green. About 1952 shares have advanced, 1059 shares declined.
