Stock market update: Mining stocks down as market falls
Oriental Trimex(up 5.06%) stood among the top gainers.
Aro Granite Industries(down 2.59%), Orissa Minerals Development Company(down 2.48%), Ashapura Minechem(down 1.85%), NMDC Ltd(down 1.74%), Coal India(down 1.73%), Madhav Marbles and Granites(down 1.50%), Pokarna(down 1.16%), KIOCL(down 1.08%), 20 Microns(down 1.07%) and Gujarat Mineral Dvpt Corporation(down 1.03%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 133.85 points down at 17764.8, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 372.32 points at 59636.01.
State Bank of India(up 1.13%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 0.76%), Indian Oil Corporation(up 0.7%), HDFC Bank(up 0.56%), Divis Laboratories(up 0.46%), Reliance Industries(up 0.38%), Hindustan Unilever(up 0.35%) and ICICI Bank(up 0.21%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Tata Motors(down 3.86%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 3.22%), Tech Mahindra(down 3.13%), Larsen & Toubro(down 2.86%), HCL Technologies(down 2.8%), Tata Steel(down 2.74%), Eicher Motors(down 2.65%), IndusInd Bank(down 2.47%), Hero MotoCorp(down 2.35%) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation(down 2.05%) closed in the red.
