Toronto Stocks Down Slightly; Parkland Corp. Shares Rise on NCIB

Shares in Toronto were moderately down at midday Monday. In the session, gains in energy and retail stocks balanced out producer losses in manufacturing and consumer services sectors. Shares in Parkland Corp. rose after it announced it intends to implement a normal course issuer bid, or NCIB, for 10% of its public float.

Canada’s S&P/TSX Composite Index was down 0.04% to 21117.64 and the blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 fell 0.09% to 1276.21.

Parkland Corp. shares rose 1.8% to C$34.13 after it said it intends to buy back around 15.1 million shares in the 12-month period beginning on Dec. 1 at market prices.

Other market movers:

Shares in Medical Facilities Corp. were 3.6% higher at C$8.03 after it said it intends to acquire up to 5% of its common shares at market price.

Fire & Flower Holdings Corp. shares fell 3.1% to C$0.63 after it said it will consolidate its shares on a 10-to-one basis ahead of its potential listing on the Nasdaq.
