Donald Trump accuses Meghan Markle of ‘using’ Prince Harry and being

Donald Trump has accused the Duchess of Sussex of “using” Prince Harry and being “disrespectful” to the Queen in a wide-ranging interview.

Speaking to GB News’ Nigel Farage in Florida, the former US president said he hasn’t been a fan of the Duchess of Sussex since “day one”.

Referring to Meghan, Mr Trump said: “I’m not a fan of hers. I wasn’t from day one. I think Harry has been used horribly and I think someday he will regret it.”

He added: “I think Harry’s been used and been used terribly.

“I think it’s ruined his relationship with his family, and it hurts the Queen.”

In response to comments from Mr Farage about Meghan using Duchess of Sussex headed writing paper to lobby members of Congress, Mr Trump said: “She is trying do things that I think are very inappropriate.”

GB News said he told Mr Farage: “I think she’s very disrespectful to the royal family and most importantly to the Queen.”

Mr Trump’s critical comments were virtually the same to those he made in September 2020 when he made a dig at the couple after they endorsed Joe Biden for president.

When the couple urged people to vote in the 2020 election, Mr Trump told reporters: “I’m not a fan of hers and I would say this, and she probably has heard that.

“But I wish a lot of luck to Harry, cause he’s going to need it.”

In 2019, he told The Sun newspaper she was “nasty” in response to comments she made about him before she married into the royal family, calling him “divisive” and “misogynistic”.

Mr Trump has described the Queen as a ‘great woman’

And he tweeted following their departure from the royal family in 2020: “I am a great friend and admirer of the Queen & the United Kingdom.

“It was reported that Harry and Meghan, who left the Kingdom, would reside permanently in Canada.

“Now they have left Canada for the US however, the US will not pay for their security protection. They must pay!”

Mr Trump has always professed to having great respect for the Queen.

During the interview, he described the 95-year-old as “a great woman, such a great person, a historic person”.

It is not the first time Mr Trump has spoken about the monarch, who he has met multiple times, and the wider royal family.

During his state visit to the UK in summer 2019, Mr Trump praised the royals saying: “The Queen and the entire royal family have been fantastic.

“The relationship with the United Kingdom is very strong.”

GB News said the interview features Mr Trump talking about Boris Johnson, the presidential election, events at the US Capitol on 6 January, Black Lives Matter, the migrant crisis in the US and the UK, Antifa, and the question of whether he will run for office again.
