Brickability Group Plc and Peel Hunt in the spotlight for Wednesday

There aren’t many names behind the first door of the City’s advent calendar.

The outlook is good for Brickability Group PLC (AIM:BRCK) results due on Wednesday even if they do say so themselves.

Brickability in October flagged a 200% year-on-year rise in first half revenue, told investors that its order book remained buoyant, and said its “well placed as demand continues to strengthen”.

“The UK housebuilding market has shown its resilience in recent months as the UK builds new homes at one of the fastest rates since the turn of the century.

“Brickability, as one of the UK’s leading materials distributors, is well-positioned to benefit from the growing demand for materials and has the supply and logistics capabilities to meet the market’s needs. We remain cautiously optimistic for the future.”

Underlying earnings (adjusted EBITDA) for the period were guided to be in the region of £17mln, more than double the £8mln posted 12 months earlier.

Peel Hunt’s first results

Stockbrokers will be in focus on Wednesday, as recent AIM market newbie Peel Hunt releases its first set of results since its IPO, putting out its interims.

Peel Hunt raised £112mln as it came to market in late September. Some £40mln of that funding was earmarked for investments into the firm’s next phase of growth – so no doubt updates in that regard will be closely eyed.

The broker is “in prime position to take advantage of numerous opportunities ahead and continue our strong growth momentum”, according to a September statement. A progress report will shine some further light.

In FY21, the group’s revenues more than doubled to £196.8mln from £95.5mln the year before, as some 47% of all retail trade value in the UK was dealt on its trading platform.

More volatility spells good news for the retail trading arm, meanwhile, the corporate side will be hoping for sufficient stability to maintain the year’s strong appetite for new shares issues and secondary fundings.
