Santander UK poaches former Lloyds Banking exec to be new UK CEO


Santander UK said it has poached Yorkshire Building Society boss Mike Regnier to be its new chief executive officer, subject to regulatory approval.

Regnier joins the company with a wealth of experience in banking and financial services, including as CEO of Yorkshire Building Society since 2017.

He has also held previous positions at blue-chip brands including Lloyds Banking Group, where he was personal current accounts and credit cards director, following stints at TSB, Halifax, and Asda.

Santander chairman, William Vereker said that Regnier “brings a powerful combination of experience, knowledge and energy, twinned with a positive vision for the future of the bank.”

Speaking on the appointment, Regnier said, “I am honoured to be joining Santander, a bank with a rich heritage in the UK, a strong track record of innovation and a commitment to helping our country prosper.”
