SuperSeed Capital Limited to become first listed venture capital

VSA Capital Ltd was appointed as AQSE corporate adviser and broker to the company for the proposed admission

SuperSeed Capital Ltd, a venture capital investor, has announced plans to list on London’s AQSE market this month, with a fundraising underway.

Investors in Superseed will gain exposure to UK early-stage technology companies – something normally only accessible to private market investors, it said.

It will invest mainly in early-stage UK business-to-business tech companies, including software-as-a-service, artificial intelligence, and data, targeting a return of three to five times over a 10-year period.

“Venture capital investments have traditionally been accessible mainly to ultra-high net worth investors, [but] now we aim to provide public markets investors access to exciting venture capital opportunities through the listing of SuperSeed Capital,” said investment manager Mads Jansen.

SuperSeed Capital will be a feeder fund, investing as a limited partner of SuperSeed Ventures second fund, SuperSeed II LP (Fund II), managed by SuperSeed Ventures LLP as the company’s investment manager.

Fund I, which was launched in 2019 and invests in market-ready or nearly market-ready products, has delivered returned a 25% internal rate of return so far.

The ‘anchor’ investor in Fund II is the British Business Bank (BBB), which will provide 60% of the capital but take a reduced profit, providing faster returns via profit leverage under the Enterprise Capital Funds (ECF) programme, the company said.

This will be the first publicly listed fund-of-venture-capital-funds in the UK, while it will be the first to give investors access to the BBB ECF programme and also be the first AIC (Association of Investment Companies) member to be admitted on the AQSE Growth Market, it said.

“Having started, built, and sold multiple companies as both founders and investors, we are amongst a select group of only 8% of UK venture capitals who have both VC investment experience and have worked at a start-up,” added Jansen.

“We apply our knowledge of software and enterprise sales to assess product-market fit before investment, and often directly support founders in developing the sales model and product roadmap to reduce risk of failure.”

VSA Capital Ltd was appointed as AQSE corporate adviser and broker to SuperSeed for the proposed admission.
