Three investment company trends to watch out for in 2022


Nick Britton, Head of Intermediary Communications at the Association of Investment Companies joins Proactive London’s Katie Pilbeam to talk about the three investment company trends to watch out for in 2022. 

This is the title of his latest Spotlight article in which he firstly tackles the topic of inflation. As he highlights, it’s hit 5.1% in the UK, 4.9% in the Eurozone and a stunning 6.8% in the US. He says investment companies can draw on some structural advantages to help protect investors from the ravages of rising prices, including the ability to invest in a wider range of inflation-proofing assets, stay fully invested (avoiding cash drag) and exploit the current differential between low interest rates and high inflation rates by borrowing to invest. 

Second, is the extraordinary burst of corporate activity we are seeing at the moment. And finally, he says 2022 is the year when we might finally get some more clarity from regulators on ESG.
