Naked Wines PLC starts shipments to Alabama as US market expands

The company, which says it is the US and global leader in the rapidly growing direct-to-consumer wine market, has some 350,000 US members and over 945,000 worldwide

Naked Wines PLC (AIM:WINE, OTCQX:NWINF), the Norwich-based direct-to-consumer wine business, has started to ship to customers in Alabama – taking its US distribution to 43 states plus the District of Columbia.

The Alabama legislature recently made a regulatory change by approving a new licence for out-of-state wineries to ship directly to its residents.

This follows similar moves by Kentucky earlier this year and Oklahoma in 2018.

“This is another positive step – expanding consumer access to our exclusive range of award-winning wines,” said Naked Wines chief executive Nick Devlin.

Naked Wines, which says it is the US and global leader in the rapidly growing direct-to-consumer wine market, has some 350,000 US members and over 945,000 worldwide.

Naked Wines has launched an exclusive special welcome offer on its website to Alabama’s 5mln residents, who will add to an addressable market in the US said to be worth US$20bn.
