Samarkand Group PLC and FedEx in ‘enormous’ China eCommerce deal

Nomad checkout, which will be the first specific solution in the programme for the Chinese CBEC market, integrates with existing eCommerce software such as Shopify

Samarkand Group PLC (AQSE:SMK) said FedEx (NYSE:FDX) customers will be able to use its Nomad technology platform to power cross-border eCommerce (CBEC) from international markets into China.

Under a new deal with the US logistics giant, Samarkand will make its Nomad checkout solution available to all FedEx clients via direct integration.

Merchants will be able to discover the Nomad checkout solution and quickly onboard using their FedEx account, Samarkand said.

“The integration with FedEx… represents an enormous potential pipeline of new clients for our solutions,” David Hampstead, chief executive, said.

Nomad checkout, which will be the first specific solution in the programme for the Chinese CBEC market, integrates with existing eCommerce software such as Shopify (TSX:SH., NYSE:SHOP).

It provides a “superior experience” for merchants and customers, including improved site performance, localisation, Chinese payment methods, express logistics options, and integrated customs clearance, it said.

This results in faster shipping, reduced customs stoppage rates, more convenience for consumers, and lower customer service overhead for merchants.

“We have already seen great benefits from our partnership with China’s number one logistics company, SF Express.

“These partners have combined annual revenues of over US$100bn and give us extensive reach across all of the key markets we want to address,” Hampstead added.
