Live market updates: After opening mildly lower, the benchmark indices recouped losses amid gains in index heavyweight RIL and IT stocks. The BSE Sensex was up 65 points at 56,000 levels while Nifty50 tested 16,650 and rose 15 points.
RIL, HCL Tech and Bajaj Finserv were among top gainers in the 30-pack Sensex while Airtel, Power Grid and Maruti were the worst losers.
Shares slipped on Thursday after South Korea raised its policy rate for the first time in almost three years, by 25 basis points to 0.75 per cent. Nikkei 225 in Japan traded flat, Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.50 per cent, and South Korea’s Kospi eased 0.2 per cent.
