Hang Seng index ends down 1.3% as Evergrande missing interest payment sparks jitters
Hong Kong shares ended lower on Friday, dragged down by broad losses across sectors, as global investors fretted over the impact of a missed bond interest payment by debt-laden developer China Evergrande.

SC seeks Centre’s reply on PIL alleging export of iron ore in pellet form to evade export duty
The Supreme Court Friday sought response from the Centre on a PIL alleging export of iron ore in pellet form by some private firms by evading export duty. A bench comprising Chief Justice N V Ramana and Justices Surya Kant and Hima Kohli took note of the plea of NGO ‘Common Cause’ and asked the Centre to file its response within four weeks.
Unconditional access to network likely for power companies
India is considering an overhaul of its electricity transmission planning to give power companies nationwide unconditional access to the network. The government also proposes to allow states to trade their excess transmission capacities with other states, a senior government official said.
