Lightning eMotors to Supply Powertrains for U.K. Electric Commercial

By Michael Dabaie

Lightning eMotors Inc. said it would supply powertrains for the electric commercial vehicle market in the U.K., in partnership with Ricardo, an environmental, engineering, and strategic consulting company.

Lightning eMotors would build fully electric powertrains at its 231,000 square foot facility in Loveland, Colo., for shipment to the U.K.

Ricardo would then assemble and integrate those powertrains into medium duty commercial fleet vehicles at one of its manufacturing facilities in the U.K. Ricardo would also source components for the EV assembly from U.K. manufacturers.

Bp Ventures, Lightning’s largest investor, would provide fleet management support through bp Pulse, an electric vehicle charging company.
