Trump supporters gathered in Dallas fully expecting Joe Biden to be imminently replaced in what has been called a “scary” move.
Hundreds of people gathered in the centre of the US city of Dallas this week in the hope that John F Kennedy Jnr, who died more than two decades ago, would be resurrected, made President and pave the way for Donald Trump to become “king of kings”.
Defying rain, the group waited patiently for around 24 hours on Dallas’ Dealey Green, where John F Kennedy was assassinated in 1963 while President. Some then headed to a Rolling Stones concert in the belief the grand reveal would occur there.
The bizarre gathering of believers in the QAnon conspiracy theory was spurred by social media reports, Newsweek reported.
In the days leading up to the demonstration, posts about the Dallas resurrection were seen by hundreds of thousands of people, the magazine reported.
“Frankly, I’m kind of shocked at how many people turned out for this,” Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab resident fellow Jared Holt told the Dallas Morning News.
“This wasn’t a widespread belief, even among QAnon followers.”
QAnon adherents believe a shadowy figure called “Q,” said to be a senior military officer, has been leaking intelligence online about a supposed secret ring of criminals and Satanists working at high levels of government and Mr Trump’s plan to uncover these wrongdoings.
There is no evidence for any of the claims.
However, believers have been linked to a number of violent incidents including January’s Capitol Hill riot in Washington DC following Mr Trump’s presidential loss to Joe Biden.
Trump to be “king of kings”
People began to arrive at Dealey Plaza, in Dallas’ CBD, on Monday night. The location is significant because it was there, in November 1963, that President Kennedy was murdered, shot from a window in the Texas Book Depository building which overlooks the park.
According to the Dallas Morning News, which covered the gathering, QAnon supporters at the rally said JFK Jr did not die in a 1999 plane crash but rather has been spending 22 years in hiding.
They believed he would reappear in the plaza before midnight local time.
A social media account linked to QAnon said that following Mr Kennedy’s miraculous reappearance, Mr Trump would assume the presidency and then hand over the reins to Mr Kennedy who would then appoint former national security adviser Michael Flynn as vice president.
Mr Flynn appeared at a May conference in Dallas which had links to QAnon.
It’s not clear if any vote would take place for Mr Trump, the now not-late Mr Kennedy or Mr Flynn to assume office.
After Mr Kennedy, who would now be 61, took on the presidency, Mr Trump would then become “king of kings”.
There was little detail on what the role of “king of kings” entailed.
Even among those in Dallas, there was some confusion about elements of the supposed plan.
