FTSE rises today as world leaders gather in Glasgow for COP26

The FTSE 100 started the week on the front foot as world leaders gather in Glasgow to discuss climate issues at COP26. London’s leading index jumped 32 points to 7,269 in early deals.

Barclays PLC (LSE:BARC)’s (LSE:BARC) chief executive Jes Staley is stepping down following an investigation into his relationship with the US financier Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein was arrested in July 2019 on child sex-trafficking charges and committed suicide while awaiting trial.

Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LSE:RR.) (LSE:RR.) is teaming up with Qatar to inject cash into green technology start-ups. The pair will build a science and engineering campus in the UK.

US games publisher Devolver Digital, Inc. is planning a London IPO that would value it at US$700mln. The group has released 90 independent titles, such as Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout and Hotline Miami.

Among the small caps, LoopUp Group PLC (AIM:LOOP) (AIM:LOOP) has announced a major strategic alliance for its Cloud Telephony solution with an international telecommunications provider. The service allows customers to make and receive phone calls to and from external phone numbers via Microsoft Teams.
Helium One Global Ltd (AIM:HE1, OTCQB:HLOGF) (AIM:HE1, OTCQB:HLOGF) has launched Phase 2 exploration at the Rukwa project, in Tanzania. The group is planning to test new targets and existing ones in 2022.

KRM22 PLC (AIM:KRM) (AIM:KRM) said 7RIDGE Investments is to pump roughly £4.7mln into the company. The technology and software investment company is issuing up to 8.9mln shares in exchange.
