Metro Bank PLC shares tank as Carlyle ends bid talks


The bank’s board said it “continues to strongly believe in the standalone strategy and future prospects of Metro Bank”

Shares in Metro Bank PLC (LSE:MTRO) plummeted on news talks with US private equity group Carlyle regarding a possible takeover of the bank have ended.

Metro Bank said in a statement that its board “continues to strongly believe in the standalone strategy and future prospects of Metro Bank”.

Shares in Metro Bank dropped 18.37% to 108p on the announcement.
